When we first peeked inside content creator Rocky Barnes and photographer husband Matthew Cooper’s Los Angeles home, the pair had only recently found their footing between Barnes’s love of color and Cooper’s minimalist leanings. These days, they’re learning to compromise with their two sons, who leave personal touches throughout the house in the form of Hot Wheels, monster trucks, and toy construction vehicles. “I call their style ‘transportation chic,’” says Barnes.

With so much going on in their three-bedroom ranch, getting a good night’s sleep has become a top priority. Coyuchi took notice and naturally tapped Barnes as their new ambassador—a role that came with curating a list of her favorite pieces, from the Camellia Print Sateen Duvet to select items from the brand’s upcoming apparel line.

Ahead, we asked Barnes to share a few more of her bedroom must-haves. Here’s what she dished:

With a crazy, chaotic life, I like to keep the bed minimal—two functional pillows and two decorative, total.

Matt runs hot while I run cold, so our bed compromise is lots of light layers. Coyuchi’s organic cotton quilts are the perfect weight—super breathable yet warm, in the best colors. I also love their linen sheets, which keep me warm and Matt cool.

I believe the uglier you go to sleep, the prettier you wake up. My nightstand holds silk hair scrunchies, a Drowsy sleep mask, and mouth tape. And always water.

I absolutely love our plaster finish walls. They’re non-toxic and bring so much texture and depth to a space. We went neutral during our remodel—I would have loved to do a Moroccan pink! Maybe one day, or for the next house…

I love the look of layered quilts. The hand-stitching and warm colors bring texture and depth to the space.

I’ve tried to adopt the one-touch rule—putting everything away the first time helps avoid pile-ups. I also fill these stash pots with cotton pads and Q-Tips, mostly smaller items that easily get strewn about.

I like to dress a bedroom the way I put together outfits: mix textures, add a layer, and always choose color! Any of—or all of—these things will cozy your bedroom right up.
