Tania Moreira thinks about sleep more than the average person. Partly because it’s her job: she’s the bedroom business manager at IKEA U.S., tasked with bringing relevant products to customers. But also, she’s simply too busy to let a painful strain or pesky knot in her neck ruin her day. That’s why Moreira is especially excited about the company’s latest bedroom drop, which spans a range of comforters, bedding, bed frames, and—drumroll, please—six new mattresses.
If you want to test out the beds in real life, you can head to your local store, or, if you live in the New York City area, check them out at IKEA’s Sleepeasy, an immersive pop-up in SoHo that showcases all the fresh products this weekend and next. And yes, you’re more than welcome to flop, snuggle, and sprawl out.
Here’s a glimpse of our favorite new additions to the bedding aisle.
“The Vagstranda is really, really good—it feels like that high-level, super-expensive mattress, except it’s not,” says Moreira. The queen is only $499, which, sure, is more than some of IKEA’s traditional offerings, but you’re getting a lot more than a basic Morgedal foam mattress. The Vagstranda features what IKEA calls seven “comfort zones,” or layers that adjust to the weight of your body in a way that keeps your hips, shoulders, and head in alignment. There are also two sets of springs, helping to relieve pressure points, and they’re stacked in a way that allows air to circulate for better breathability.
Other new beds worth plopping on: the Anneland hybrid mattress (it’s a higher price point, at $549, because it stars memory foam), the Abrotten and Asbygda foam mattresses, as well as the Valevag and Vestero spring mattresses. Calling all college students: the latter is just $199.
Complete your comfort upgrade with this butterfly-shaped memory foam pillow that’s ideal for side, back, and stomach sleepers because it offers both high and low sides. If you want even more flexibility, Moreira recommends the Ramsloksmal pillow—its three foam layers are all adjustable, so you can tweak the thickness depending on the night.
You don’t have to ditch your duvet in the summer: this machine-washable insert is made of Lyocell fibers and filling, which move moisture away from your body so you get a dry, comfortable sleep.
Formerly only available in black, white, and gray, the Hemnes daybed now comes in this sunny shade of yellow. Obviously, it’s perfect for kids’ rooms, but we also love how it can turn a cramped office or hallway into a makeshift guest space. IKEA is also working on upping its upholstered bed frame options, says Moreira, so you’ll find a dark blue version of the Tufjord on display, too.
IKEA’s supersimple Gulliver crib also got a fresh coat of paint. Soften the hit of Kelly green in a nursery by pairing it with sage walls, oak-wood storage, and a splash of gingham.
